2004 IoPP Annual Board of Directors Meeting and Leadership Conference
IoPP members and leaders assembled for the 2004 IoPP Annual Board of Directors Meeting and Leadership Conference, held April 28-May 1 at the Pizza Hut (Yum! Brands) corporate headquarters in Dallas. The event was hosted by Yum! Brands and sponsored by Weyerhaeuser, Rock-Tenn Company, Herman Miller and Multi-Wall Packaging Corporation.
On Wednesday, April 28, reports presented to the Council of Officers meeting included:
- Consultant’s Council report presented by Consultant’s Council Chair, Nicholas Popp, CPP. Report included Consultant’s Council goals and details from their previous meeting.
- Chapters Report presented by Vice President-Chapters Council Jane Chase, CPP.
- Technical Committee/Task Force report presented by Vice President-Technical Council Suzanne Fisher, CPP. It was noted that task force efforts have been successful and that there are currently seven task forces in the works or on the horizon, including:

From April 28-May 1, IoPP's 2004 Annual Meeting covered membership, revenues,
operations, education and leadership

Membership trends, operations and university relationships were discussed in detail. It was also noted that revenue from IoPP education programs is up 100% (from 2002-2003) while expenses are down. Stan Zelesnik, IoPP’s director of education, presented information about the current status of IoPP education programs. According to IoPP president Tom Schneider, "Education is the heart of IoPP."
On Thursday, April 29, as part of the Leadership Workshop, IoPP members services manager, Kelly Staley, delivered an Event Planning presentation and the Golden Gate Chapter discussed how they planned their Corrugated Regatta event while the Ontario Chapter addressed how they put together an RFID event.
Also, on Thursday, IoPP Regional Vice Presidents, Chapter Officers and Technical Council met to discuss future growth of IoPP.
The IoPP Tejas Chapter event – “What’s New in Packaging Trade Show and Dinner” – took place Thursday evening in the Crowne Plaza Dallas Whispering Oaks banquet room.
On Friday, April 30, Leadership Workshop included a presentation by Chris Barry, IoPP communications manager, about how to effectively use the IoPP National web site, .
Friday afternoon, meetings of the IoPP Council of Officers and Board of Directors were held. Ed Landon, IoPP executive director, gave an IoPP National overview presentation, which included membership information, education programs and revenues, book store, certification programs, AmeriStar, editorial reach, trade press advertising, benefactors, corporate sponsors, and more.
The annual IoPP Honors and Awards Banquet, honoring the chapters, committees and members who have made significant contributions to IoPP and to the packaging field, was held Friday evening in the Crowne Plaza Dallas Whispering Oaks banquet room.

The week concluded Saturday, May 1, with a golf outing at the Riverchase Golf Club in Coppell, Texas.
