The AmeriStar Package Awards honor the best packages of the year. The results are rewarding and educational for the innovators, the achievers, the judges and the packaging profession as a whole. Entering AmeriStar is truly a mark of distinction for your chosen field.

Don't miss the opportunity to showcase your package's creativity, innovation and excellence. Entry deadline for the 2004 AmeriStar Package Competition is July 15 but fees for entries received on or before June 15 are discounted. IoPP members are also entitled to discounted entry fees. Click here for Entry Fees and Dates.  Judging occurs on August 13 with Award Reception taking place during PACK EXPO International 2004, scheduled for November 7-11 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Eligibility

Anyone can enter - loPP member or non-member, engineer or marketer, supplier or packager. Entrants simply had to have been involved in the design or manufacturing of the submitted package or one of its principal components. Any package or family of packages produced after January 1, 2003 and not previously entered into an AmeriStar competition may be entered. If it contains a product, it's eligible. No prototypes accepted.

What You Can Win

Each person entering a package will be recognized with a “Certificate of Participation,” acknowledging their contribution to the field and to the competition.

AmeriStar Award winners are selected by a group of independent judges - each experienced in the packaging business with specific knowledge about each category judged. Winners will be selected in each of the entry categories. 

Special awards - including “Best of Show,” sponsored by Lansmont, and the 3M Integrity Award , sponsored by 3M - honor packaging's cream of the crop. AmeriStar winners will be prominently displayed during PACK EXPO.  Attendees at PACK EXPO may view the display and vote for the "People’s Choice Award ." "People's Choice Award" winners will be announced during PACK EXPO. All winners receive a trophy and certificate, suitable for display.  Additional copies of the trophy and certificate may be ordered, to share with associates who participated in making the package a winner.

AmeriStar Winner Announcements

• Winning packages will be displayed at PACK EXPO in November.
• Winners will be recognized at the AmeriStar Awards Reception.
• The 2004 AmeriStar Brochure will showcase winners' achievements.
• Winner information will be sent to packaging press, both in the US and abroad.
• Winner information will be displayed on the IoPP web site for one full year.
• IoPP staff is available to assist winners with promotion of their individual achievements, as requested.

AmeriStar to WorldStar

AmeriStar Award winners automatically qualify for entry into the World Packaging Organization's "WorldStar Package Awards" competition, which compares packages of similar function from all around the world. An international panel of judges provides a WorldStar designation to those packages which it views as especially outstanding. AmeriStar winners will receive entry information for WorldStar.
